haiku from March 2003
by Gary Warner

my father's globe
so many countries
with wrong names - *1
storm drain
a long string of frog eggs
twists into knots
selecting a coin
to throw into the fountain
rainbow mist
distant thunder
she lights a candle
on his night table
tiny black tadpoles
a sunken coke bottle
beneath the lilies
Dauphin Island
cutting up a stingray
to use as bait
lazy afternoon
the cat and I watch birds
on the feeder
mountain biking
beside the trail
a stone fireplace - *2
snapping turtle
tadpoles with tiny legs
swim right by
